I not even 5 minutes ago did this on homework and got it correct.
Lines of longitude run east to west and measure places expressed
in degrees north or south of the Prime Meridian. I promise I'm correct,
because I got a 100% on this. If you're a homeschooler it's right in the
fine print just look.

Marvelous ! The breathless, excited, enthusiastic, self-congratulatory answer above is totally wrong. The lines of longitude on a map goes from north-south
Lines of longitude run north-south and measure east-west.
North - South or South - North depending where you are at time
Latitude lines run east-west, but measure north and south. Longitude lines run north-south, but measure east and west.
latitude runs East to west. Longitude runs north to south. In other words, the lines of latitude are measured in degrees north and south of the equator and lines of longitude are measured in degrees east and west of the prime meridian.

on an atlas you'll see lines across maps, the vetical lines are the longitude (east and west).the latitude will be the horizontal lines known as north and south.....Wrong way round. Longitude is north/south and latitude is east/west.

Latitude: East-west Longitude: North-south
Meridians of longitude run north and south. Parallels of latitude run east and west.
lines of longitude are lines drawn north and south and measure east and west a famous line of longitude is the Prime meridian
The one that measures the angle from the equator and is tagged 'north' or 'south' is the latitude. The one that measures the angle from the Prime Meridian and is tagged 'east' or 'west' is the longitude.
