The "eye" creature, or lava snake, or segmented creature, is inside the volcano. To get past it, you have to jump when it is fully extended. Wait for it to ROLL toward you and step back. When it unrolls flat, jump over it.

The spiky thing (rolling thing, eye creature, eye monster, lava creature, lava snake) can be jumped over when it is unrolled (flat). Wait for it to roll toward you in a loop, then step back as it uncoils. Quickly jump across it to the left.
