I can remember them around the late 60's early 70's, usually available around bonfire night . Most of the match was covered in black sulphur with a coloured tip at the end. When you lit the match it would glow very bright (Red or Green, can't remember any other colours, but a colleague at work thinks there was a blue). The match produced clouds of smoke. I have never seen them in years but I would think they would be to dangerous to handle in today's health and safety conscious age.

The remaining part of the budge was spent on things such as music, staffing and security, to name a few. See the related link below for a BBC news story about the fireworks.
As of my last update, London Light Matches, known for their iconic design and quality, had been discontinued. While they may occasionally be available through specialty retailers or auctions, finding them in standard stores is unlikely. For current availability, checking online marketplaces or vintage goods websites may yield results.
No, you cannot see New Year's Eve fireworks from Hyde Park in London. The official New Year's Eve fireworks display typically takes place along the South Bank near the London Eye and is ticketed, with designated viewing areas. While Hyde Park is a popular location for celebrations, it is not an official viewing spot for the fireworks. For the best views, it is recommended to head to the designated areas near the Thames.
