It's a pretty simple experiment, though I don't recommend actually doing it:

Take a glass rod. Put it in a flame for a minute. Now stick it in your mouth; if you get third degree burns on your tongue, I think you can safely conclude that fire does indeed affect glass.

How do you start fire glass for a fire pit?

To start a fire in a fire pit using fire glass, first ensure the fire pit is clean and has proper ventilation. Place a layer of fire glass in the bottom, followed by a base of kindling or fire starters. Light the kindling with a long-reach lighter or match, allowing the flames to spread to the fire glass. Once the fire is established, you can add more fire glass around the flames for a decorative effect.

What happens to glass when there is a fire?

Glass can crack or shatter when exposed to high temperatures during a fire due to uneven heating and rapid cooling. The intense heat weakens the glass structure, causing it to break. Glass can also distort or warp from the heat, affecting its transparency.
