Pure Iron (Fe) doesn't directly react with water, but it will oxidize (rust), especially if the iron is just wet and is exposed to air a lot. I believe iron will eventually oxidize if kept completely underwater too, but as there is less free Oxygen for it to react with down there, it is a longer process.

None of them act violently with water, but the answer is Iron because Copper only reacts with dilute acids.

What reacts with iron to make rust?

Water. ---------- Oxygen

When iron oxide is made does the iron take the oxygen out of the water or out of the air?

Iron oxide is typically formed by the reaction of iron with oxygen in the air, not water. Iron reacts with oxygen in the presence of air to form iron oxide. Water does not play a significant role in the formation of iron oxide in this context.

What metal reacts quickest copper gold iron silver?

Gold does not react with air or water, so it does not tarnish or corrode easily. Copper reacts slowly with air and water to form a patina. Silver reacts with sulfur compounds in the air to form tarnish. Iron reacts quickly with oxygen to form iron oxide (rust).

What gas in the air reacts with iron to make it rusty?

oxygen reacts with iron and forms rust Oxygen reacts with iron to form iron oxide.

What happen when iron reacts with salt water?

What is the main compound found in rust?

What property is water reacts with iron metal to form rust?

Oxidation

Reacts with oxygen to produce rust?

Iron reacts with oxygen in the presence of water to produce rust, which is a form of iron oxide. Rusting is a chemical reaction that occurs over time, leading to the breakdown and deterioration of iron-based materials.

What is the chemical equation when metallic iron reacts with water?

Iron does not react with pure water. Dissolved oxygen reacts with iron. Rust is a complex mixture of iron oxides, and hydroxide and hydrated oxides. See the link for a reasonably detailed explanation.

How does iron react with air and water?

Iron reacts with oxygen in air to form iron oxide, commonly known as rust. When iron reacts with water, it undergoes corrosion which is accelerated in the presence of oxygen. The reaction with water and oxygen produces hydrated iron oxide, also known as rust.
