No the planet's orbits are not VERY elliptical but yes, they are somewhat elliptical. They are not just rotating in a circle. More like an oval.

What orbit does a comet have?

Orbits move in very elongated elliptical orbits.

Is a asteroid's orbit elliptical?

Yes. They orbit the Sun and as per Kepler's first law they follow an elliptical path. Do note that a circular orbit is a special type of elliptical orbit.

Does mars orbit the sun in a circle shape?

No. A circle is an unstable shape for an object orbiting another. An orbit is between slightly and very elliptical (egg-shaped). If an object is placed in a circular orbit, the orbit will quickly deteriorate to an elliptical orbit. Added: Mar's elliptical eccentricity is rather above average for a planetary orbit. Not quite as large as Mercury, but large enough.

Which planets move in an elliptical orbit?

All the planets move with an elliptical orbit, but with a very low eccentricity.

Is an elliptical orbit unusual?

No in fact study of exo-planets suggest that they are actually very common.

What is the shape of its orbit?

elliptical

Which two planets has the most elliptical orbit?

Mercury and Pluto have the most elliptical orbits among the planets in our solar system. Mercury's orbit is the most eccentric, while Pluto's orbit is also highly elliptical due to its distance from the Sun and its eccentric orbit.

Which have the most elliptical and tilted orbits?

Pluto and Eris have the most elliptical and tilted orbits among the known dwarf planets. Pluto's orbit is highly elliptical and tilted compared to the eight planets in our solar system. Eris also has a very elliptical orbit and is tilted at a steep angle.

What has elliptical orbits?

As an elliptical orbit is any orbit that isn't perfectly circular, everything has an elliptical orbit. The planets Mercury and Pluto have the most elliptical orbits of the planets, and are easily seen to be oval shaped. Comets also have highly elliptical orbits.

Does elliptical orbit affect it's distance from the sun?

Yes, the distance from the sun is variable for anything with an elliptical orbit.

What planet moved in an elliptical orbit?

All planets have elliptical orbits.

How is Neptune's orbit described?

It is described as a large elliptical orbit.
