  1. Producers are organisms in the ocean like plankton, crill, and nekton. They use Photosynthesis to make there own food. Another type of producer is bacteria; they use chemosynthesis to make their food. The reason they use chemosynthesis is because the energy from the sun does not reach that far down into the ocean so they use chemosynthesis to make their own food.
  2. Consumers are all the other organisms that do not make their own food; instead they eat the producers. Some examples of consumers are mullet, spanish mackerel, cobia, king mackerel and at the top of all consumers is the shark. This is also how the food chain is created. The crill, plankton, and nekton are at the bottom, with the bacteria then you have shrimp and whale sharks that eat them. Then you also have bait fish like pogies, mullets, and other bait fish. There are also bigger fish like flounder, spanish mackerel, cobia, blue fish and king mackerel. At the top of the food chain you would have the biggest predator in the sea-- the shark. Sharks eat anything except for whales, dolphins, and the whale shark; that automatically puts them at the top of the food chain.
  3. Then you have decomposers and the name basically speaks for itself. Decomposers decompose and break down dead animals in the sea releasing nutrients including nitrates,co2,nitrogen and more. But then when the decomposers are finished decomposing dead material, the process starts over with the nutrients becoming bacteria and the whole cycle begins again.
