Most of the fuels we come across in daily life (coal, oil, gas, wood, manure) use the conversion of some carbon based compound to carbon dioxide with a subsequent release of heat energy.

This process produces carbon dioxide which is a pollutant in many senses of the word but is incorporated back into the carbon cycle.

fire causes air pollution because of the smoke. The smoke can build up the nitrogen in the green house gases and cause the atmosphere to produce acid rain. Considering the people in the area who may have Asthma that can worsen their case and can them to get sick.
