Put it in a coil which has an alternating current in it. The AC current produces a magnetic field in the coil which alternates with the changing voltage. This changes the magnetism of the permanent magnet. Gradually reduce the current in the coil and the permanent magnet will end up unmagnetised.

What is the difference between permanent pole and temporary pole?

a Temporary Magnet lose its magnetism quickly, a Permanent Magnet is hard and it keeps it magnetism

What happens when you touch a piece of iron to a permanent magnet?

When you touch a piece of iron to a permanent magnet, the iron can become magnetized temporarily because it can align its domains with the magnetic field. However, once the iron is removed from the magnet, it will lose its magnetism over time. The iron itself does not retain a permanent magnetism like the original magnet.

How is a permanet magnet destroyed?

Physical damage, exposure to extreme heat, or exposure to strong magnetic fields can cause a permanent magnet to lose its magnetism. Once a permanent magnet is demagnetized, it is very difficult to restore its original magnetic properties.

What type of magnet can only attract materials when it is touching another magnet?

A temporary magnet, such as an electromagnet, can only attract materials when in contact with another magnet or when an electric current is flowing through it. It loses its magnetism when the current is turned off or the magnetic field is removed.

Why can't you make soft iron in to permanent magnet?

Soft iron cannot be made into a permanent magnet because it does not have the ability to hold its magnetism once an external magnetic field is removed. Soft iron has a high magnetic permeability, allowing it to easily magnetize and demagnetize, which makes it useful in electromagnetic applications such as electromagnets. Permanent magnets, on the other hand, are typically made from materials with high coercivity, which enables them to retain their magnetism once magnetized.

Is iron a permanent magnet?

No, iron is not a permanent magnet. It can be magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field but will lose its magnetism once the external magnetic field is removed. Permanent magnets, on the other hand, retain their magnetism without the need for an external magnetic field.

Permanent and temporary magnets?

A temporary magnet is something that has been magnetized that won't stay a magnet for long, such as a paperclip that you have rubbed with a magnet. A Permanent magnet is usually a Lodestone that is found naturally or is manufactured by a company. Permanent magnets are always magnetic.

A magnet made of a material that keeps its magnetism is called?

Permanet Magnet

Is the magnet in a compass a permanent or electromagnet?

The magnet in a compass is a permanent magnet. It retains its magnetism without the need for an external electrical current.

What kind of magnet is strong and will not lose its magnetism unless damaged?

Something called a permanent magnet

How is is an electromagnet different from a magnet?

an electromagnet is a type of magnet that is created by an electric current. the magnetism disappears when the current is removed. if you have a landline phone and the phone line runs right next to a power line and you hear a buzzing in the line, you're hearing electromagnetic interference a permanent magnet is a type of magnet that is created by aligning the molecules by pole. this type of magnet will not lose it's magnetism in our lifetime.

What type of magnetism is present in a bar magnet?

The known magnetism in a bar magnet is electromagnetism.

Is a bar magnet a permanent magnet?

A permanent magnet is a magnet which will keep its magnetism for a very long time and is difficult to change. No, As I think a permanent magnet means they have abilities to hold the magnetism when they are magnetized. Such as Alnico permanent magnets, but in fact, they can be demagnetized, such as high temperature, hit each other, pulse waves, out magnetic field influence...What's more, different permanent magnetic material, have different abilities on holding magnetism, they can be used in different environments. you can find some details from some manufacturers website, to learn some knowledges.

What is the difference between a permanent magnet and a temporary magnet?

Temporary magnet: good example is an electromagnet. It maintains magnetic attraction only so long as an electric current surrounds it. Permanent magnet: most common. Example: bar magnet. Will maintain magnetic properties for quite a while, although they can be eventually demagnetized.
