Without having any weather instruments to measure the pressure, temperature, and dew point.. very important things can still be done to get the information you need. For wind direction and speed, one could observe how fast (or slow) the trees, a flag, the water, etc., is moving and which direction it is moving towards. Something somewhat reliable is called the "Beaufort scale." This will help you determine how fast the wind is, based on the specific movement of let's say... a flag on a flag pole. If the flag is moving only a little bit, and large trees aren't movinug or swaying, then you could infer that the winds are less than 8 kts and so on. Secondly, sky conditions and present weather is actually more RELIABLE than equipment when an actual person observed it. Use buildings, trees, mountains, etc., to determine how high or low the cloud decks are. For instance, if you know that the mountain range to the north of you is 5,000 ft high and there is a blanket of clouds stretching the entire celestial dome that appear to sit just above the mountains, you likely have overcast sky conditions with bases at 5,000 ft.

An affordable and simple way to is to just go outside, take measurements of precipitation, identify cloud types, and to take note of "what is in the air" such as humidity percentages, for example. Then, log your data on paper (I would recommend keeping a log book/ journal) so that you can look back and see if you notice a pattern.
