My granddaughter (age 2) drew, with a blue felt pen, all over her aunt's wedding pictures (2 of them). I tried Windex, hairspray and carpet cleaner but nothing touched it. Then I tried a non-acetone nailpolish remover. This did the trick! Worked like a charm. This took all of the ink off and didn't touch the finish (these were professional photographs). I don't know if I would attempt this on pictures straight from an ink-jet printer, though.

Felt tip pens have a porous tip that allows ink to flow onto the writing surface. The ink is held in a reservoir inside the pen, and capillary action draws the ink to the tip when writing. The tip's fibers help regulate the ink flow and provide a consistent line thickness.

Why we don't use ball pen to sign photograph?

Ballpoint pens can damage the surface of a photograph because the ink can smudge, bleed, or transfer over time. Using a ballpoint pen can also create indentations on the photo, which may lead to long-term damage. It's best to use a soft-tip pen, like a marker or a felt-tip pen, to sign photographs.
