Not very hard. Quartz, which is silicon dioxide, SiO2, is the most abundant mineral on the planet and occurs virtually everywhere. Every grain of sand is mostly quartz, and so is sandstone, granite and gneiss. It is also found extensively in limestone.
You can pick up a handfull of rock, stone, sand or dirt from just about anywhere and be assured you have at least some amount of quartz in you hand.
The chemical formula of silicon dioxide (quartz) is SiO2; The percentage of oxygen is 53,33 % and the percentage of silicon is 46,56 %.
"Smelt Quartz" is commonly sold as a variety of quartz, especially from many eBay vendors. "Smelt Quartz" is not quartz at all -- it is common glass, which is made from melting quartz in the presence another compound (called a flux) which lowers the melting temperature. Glass is not crystalline, whereas quartz and other minerals (with few exceptions) are crystalline. Most people can't tell the difference, but glass is optically isotropic (doesn't polarize light) whereas quartz is anisotropic (polarizes light). Glass also has a lower density, which you might be able to detect by its heft, and "smelt quartz" usually has unnatural looking streaky patches in it."

Quartz is everywhere. Every white grain of sand is quartz.
The subgroup for quartz is silicates.
All fairly pure quartz has piezonelectric properties.
well if you mean spell cus i can't really tell you how to pronouce it, in french quartz is quartz
Cartier Paris quartz Swiss watch 20 - 61322

I don't know why don't u tell me
You can tell the difference in density between quartz and galena by measuring their mass and volume. Calculate the density by dividing the mass by the volume. Galena has a higher density than quartz, so the sample with higher density is likely to be galena.
Cleavage and Fracture
You probably have nothing. Quartz is as common as dirt.
Quartz are found randomly, but millions of years ago, stars fell from space and scientists founded Quartz in the stars. Plus, in these days, Quartz are man-made from scientists. But if you ever go on geology.com, it says that Quartz can be found on the moon, so if you have a relative that is an astronaut or wants to be one, you could tell them to bring back a Quartz if they ever go to the moon.-Gagandeep S.
Quail, quarter, quartz and a quill are show and tell ideas. They begin with the letter q.
Quartz is much harder than calcite.
