Apply the 'Lemon Juice' test. Drip a small amount of lemon juice on a scrap piece of the granite. If it 'spots black' after a minute or so....it is not sealed. Wipe clean to decern if stain remains. If stained....move on to another slab.

How does one decide between marble, quartz and granite kitchen counters and floors?

Granite resist heat and tends to be more bacterial resistant than other materials, so it makes an excellent choice for countertops. It also comes in a wide variety of colors.Marble is wonderful for high traffic areas, but unfortunately, it can be stained easily with certain oils and citrus fruit. Both granite and marble need to be sealed too.Quartz, on the other hand, does not need to be sealed to protect it. Quartz also seems to be a bit more durable and cheaper than marble or granite.
