The Sun will destroy the Earth.

Nothing to worry about; it won't happen for another 4 BILLION years or so, and we humans will either have become extinct long ago, or moved to other, newer planets around younger suns. Or, perhaps we'll just take the Earth with us and move it into a more distant orbit where it will be safe.

But no matter what we do, the Sun will turn into a red giant star as it depletes its hydrogen fuel. When that happens, the Sun will begin to shrink, and the core temperature and pressure will rise. When the core temperature reaches about 35 million degrees, the Sun will begin fusing helium, greatly increasing the heat output and causing the Sun to expand and heat up.

We expect that the planets Mercury and Venus will be destroyed as the Sun engulfs them. Earth might survive, but in its current orbit would be a burnt cinder in close orbit around a giant star. Either way, all life on Earth will be destroyed - IF we don't move the Earth to a more distant orbit out past Jupiter someplace. By then, we'll almost certainly be able to do so.

"When will the Earth BE destroyed?" do you mean? Well, it depends on what you consider destruction. In around 5 billion years, the Sun will enter its red giant phase and expand until its apparent surface (or photosphere) engulfs the Earth. However, since the Sun will still be the same mass (actually, it will be somewhat less than at present), it will be very thin and not hot enough to melt the Earth, which will continue to orbit the center of system mass just beneath the Sun's surface. (Think of a mole tunnelling across a yard). On the other hand, the biosphere, sometimes called the "thin green smear" of the Earth will be long since dead, which is what most people think of when they speak of the destruction of the Earth.
