There are numerous accounts of small animals being picked up by tornadoes and being dropped, no worse for the wear, some distance away from the storm. Waterspouts will pick up fish and drop them on land. More often, the animal is a small frog or toad. There is no reason that snakes couldn't also be dropped in this manner.
