All cells carry unique proteins on their cell membranes. These are called antigens, and when white blood cells come across an unfamiliar antigen, they will treat the cell (or bacterium) as hostile, and treat it as such by releasing antibodies, or by engulfing the cell.

What do our white blood cells do?

1,White blood cells are one of the four main parts of blood. The other parts are the red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. There are different kinds of white blood cells, but they all have an important job. Do you know what that job is? White blood cells defend the body from infection and disease.2,Some white blood cells go to the places in your body where you have a cut. They attack any bacteria that enter your blood to stop them from spreading throughout your body.3,Some bacteria and viruses that enter your body carry chemicals called antigens. Your white blood cells make their own chemicals called antibodies, which will attach themselves to these antigens so that the poisons from the bacteria or viruses become harmless. Do you know how amazing these cells are? Well, the antibodies that your white blood cells produce only attack the antigen for which it was made. For example, an antibody for the chicken pox virus will only attack the chicken pox virus, not the measles virus. Even more amazing is that the white blood cells in your body remember how to make the antibody in case the germ ever enters your body again!Posted: By Nabeel pervez

How do you know a white blood cell is an animal cell?

There are no white blood cells in plants. So this cell is only found in animals.

Why are neutrophils useful in a blood test?

Because neutrophils are a type of white blood cells; this is useful in a blood test because it can tell you how many white blood cells you have, and if you have a low amount you know why your getting sick: because your white blood cells are low so therefore they cannot attack "outsiders" or viruses. Have a nice day; and I hope this helped you out a bit. All though I have a C in Biology Semester 2. So this might not be enough information; or not the right information. But I still .!! O_o

What is the medical term meaning an increase in all types of blood cells?

Leukocytescancer that occurs because you are still growing but something interfered and now your white blood cells are effected and you get cancer. that is what happened to terry fox. i should know. i am a huge fan.Leukemia is the cancer in which too many (bad) white blood cells are produced. As for the cancer of the acutal white blood cells, I'm not sure.LEUKEMIA IS THE WHITE BLOOD CELL CANCER.leukemia

What blood cell fight diseases?

White blood cells fight disease. When a foreign organism invades the body, white blood cells attack it and break it down. Really, how do you not know this sh*t? I learned this is in like the 1st grade.

What are antibody markers?

Antibody act as markers by coating the outside of a bacteria or infected cell. The antibodies are produced by B cells and the purpose of antibodies is to let white blood cells and killer T cells know what to attack.

What type of tissue helps blood tissue in defence?

I'm assuming you mean when you bleed. White blood cells called helper T cells attack infection and foreign materials while platelets clot the blood to keep you from continuing to bleed. Platelets are what form scabs and the white blood cells make up what you probably know as "puss" which helps heal the wound.

What are white blood cells?

Hi there! white blood cells are little cells in our body that help eradicate viruses and other harmful things in our body. (just in case you want to know about these cells as well) Red blood cells are what transport oxygen throughout our body.

Are there more white blood cells or red blood cells?

There are more red blood cells than white blood cells in the body. Red blood cells are the most abundant type of blood cell and are essential for transporting oxygen throughout the body, while white blood cells play a crucial role in the immune system.

Why do white blood cells produce antibodies?

White Blood Cells prouduce antibodies because when a pathogen (another name for a diease) enters your body white blood cells sends out the right antibodies to kill the pathogen and when it is killed the white blood cells remembers it so if the pathogen ever comes back again they know how to get rid of it this is called immunty
