How does one bleed the fuel on a Detroit Diesel SW engine about forty to fifty years old?

Not knowing engines that old I can only offer suggestions: 1. Crack (loosen the hose fittings) progressively on the fuel system while trying to start it. This will operate the fuel pump and air should shoot out of your cracked fitting until just fuel comes out. Dont burn out the starter. 2. Even the oldest fuel filter mounts I've seen (65's as far back as I've gone) have a plug of some sort somewhere. Now all you need is a pressure vessel with appropriate hoses and fittings such that you can force fuel without air into the fuel system. This is all im saying on that one. 3. Cummins fuel filter assemblies come with a hand operated pump... if your up for it refit a cummins type filter assembly and start pumpin.

What do you mean by prime the line by opening air bleed valve V3?

"Priming the line by opening air bleed valve V3 means releasing any trapped air from the system to ensure proper flow of fluid through the line. This helps prevent air pockets that may cause inefficiencies or malfunctions in the system."

Tighten the screw once done, and then attempt to start the engine.

How do you bleed your power steering system with a broken bleed nipple?

To bleed a power steering system with a broken bleed nipple, start by locating the power steering reservoir and filling it with the appropriate fluid. Next, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to help expel air from the system. If air bubbles are still present, you can loosen the high-pressure line at the pump slightly while someone else turns the wheel, allowing trapped air to escape. Be cautious of fluid spray, and ensure to tighten the line afterward.
