What can be used to separate salt water?

To de-salinate water, there are four possible methods. #1; Boil the salt water, and collect the steam through a Liebig Condenser. #2 ; Evaporate the salt wacter in evaporating pans. Difficult to collect the water , by this method. #3 ; Reverse Osmosis ; Salt water on one side on a semipermeable membrane, and fresh water on the other. With suitable pressures the water from salt water will pass through the membrane. Thereby it is fresh. #4 ; Reduce the gas pressure over the salt water. It will boil at a lower temperature, and there by collect the vapour with increasing gas pressure. Method #1 is the easiest to do in a lab. Method #3 is the commercial process used in arid countries.
