One of the best way to clean bronze memorials is to use biodegradable soap. A small amount of biodegradable soap should be applied to a nylon scrub brush and used to clean the bronze memorial.

In the USMC marines clean & shine their brass/bronze belt buckels with brasso metal cleaner. You could use that or something similar.

I would hire someone to do it. But you should be able to as long as you clean the bronze allowing the silver to coat the bronze.
If they are not being used, I would reccoment once a year.
