Sodium hydroxide is an alkali. If you take solutions of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide that have the same concentration, and mix equal volumes of them, the sodium hydroxide neutralises the acid. if you take tests with the solution on universal indicator paper, you will find it has pH7.

If you leave the solution to evaporate, you will see crystals of salt. This is the kind of salt you put on your chips but remember not to eat them in a laboratory! =)

How will you obtain pure salt from its impure sample?

To obtain pure salt from an impure sample, you can use the process of recrystallization. First, dissolve the impure salt in a suitable solvent, such as water, at an elevated temperature. Upon cooling the solution, pure salt will crystallize out while impurities remain dissolved. Finally, filter the solution to separate the crystals from the impurities, and then dry the crystals to obtain pure salt.

How do you convert impure sample of salt into pure?

By using repeated cycles of fractional crystallization. On each cycle the impurities will concentrate in the brine, leaving purer crystals of salt.

Steps to see if adding salt to water change the temperature at which it boils?

To test if adding salt to water increases the boiling point of the water, do the following: boil a sample of pure water until it boils. Measure the temperature at which the pure water boils. Take another sample of pure water and add salt to it, then boil this sample under the same conditions. Measure the temperature at which the salt water boils. If the latter temperature is higher, salt does increase the boiling point of water.

Is table salt a pure a substance?

Pure salt is a compound made from Sodium (Na) and Chlorine (Cl). Its formula is NaCl and it is a pure substance not a mixture. However, most salt you purchase from a shop as' Table Salt' is iodised (for health reasons) and contains anti caking agents (to make it run). That is, it has had iodine other substances added to it. This makes Table Salt a mixture.

Would the people have made pure salt?

The word "salt" or common salt usually is applied to Sodium Chloride. Seawater contains a variety of salts, so people "making" salt from seawater would not just be getting Sodium Chloride.

How could you get a sample if soluble salt?

To get a sample of soluble salt, you can dissolve the salt in water, filter out any impurities, then evaporate the water to leave behind the salt crystals. This will give you a pure sample of the soluble salt.

How do you make pure samples of caclium?

The most straightforward way to make a pure sample of calcium is to electrolyze a molten calcium salt with an "inert" cathode such as platinum. Considerable care is required to prevent reaction of pure calcium with the ambient atmosphere.

How do you make an impure salt?

Adding impurities to a pure salt or applying a method of preparation which not lead to a pure salt.

How do you obtain pure and dry sample of sodium chloride salt?

To obtain a dry sample of salt the process of the evaporation of salty water must take place . Generally salt is produced in the Salt pans that are located close to the coast . The suns energy is used to evaporate ,leaving the residue behind . This residue is a mixture of several salts not just NaCl. To obtain a pure form of salt it is processed by industries and is pure Sodium Chloride.
