To marcotte a plant is the same as air-layering it. This is when the outer layer of the plant (usually bark from a tree) is removed and the area is wrapped in moss to keep it moist. The main idea is to make sure roots will grow from the area. All of the bark in the area must be removed or it will grow back and grow over the exposed area.
