An altimeter in a plane is the same as a barometer on the ground. It measures atmospheric pressure. As you rise in elevation the pressure drops. The meter face has two hands like a clock, one revolution of the large pointer moves the small pointer to the first number. The large pointer reads in 20 feet intervals. One revolution of the large pointer equals 1000 feet. 10 revolutions of the large pointer equals 10000 feet. Looking at the position of the small pointer in thousands of feet and the position of the large pointer in graduations up to 1000 feet the pilot knows what his exact altitude is.There is a knurled knob on the altimeter that allows the pilot to adjust the pressure "hence the altitude" of the airport that he is at. Just before landing at an airport the pilot calls ahead to get the pressure setting of that airport, readjusts the altimeter to that airports pressure, so that he will be at the same pressure altitude as the control tower.
A map that shows the height of a mountain is called a topographic map or a relief map. These types of maps use contour lines to represent the elevation changes of the land and provide a visual representation of the mountain's height and terrain.
An elevation map shows the height of land above sea level.
Measure human height by the transitive property. Stand up against the wall and make a mark at your height. Then measure the distance from the floor to the mark. You are as tall as the mark is above the floor.
The most suitable units to measure the height of a person are, feet and inches.
The metric unit commonly used to measure height is the meter. So, you would measure the height of Big Ben in meters.

Height is shown on a map by boxes, each having a number in them, 1,2,3 and so on. they normally measure in miles, which is the easy way for starters.
Draw is to map, as measure is to room. A person can draw a map, just like a person can measure a room.
An elevation map would be better because an elevation map measures height.

The map scale is a part of the map that is used to measure distance. The map scale can often be found in or around the map legend.

To measure a bike's height accurately, stand the bike upright and measure from the ground to the top of the seat post. This measurement is the bike's height.
Most people measure their height in feet and inches
