it depends on what type of plant it is... if it has a wooden stem such as a grape plant vine or a small tree the anything green will die but the wood will remain. then when it warms up again it will produce new green sprouts. a full green plant with no wood however will die. wood suggest leaving it inside and if it turns black or wilts it is probably dead.
