You'll need sealing paint specifically for that purpose. Cinder blocks are very pourous.
Garage dimensions are typically measured by the outside walls, also known as the exterior dimensions. This helps in determining the building's footprint and the space available for parking or storage within the garage.
Depends how much installation you have. My parents had one for 31 years and it was worse to cool in the summer than to heat in the winter. The house is in central CA so the summers get really hot here ( 108 yesterday) and once that block gets heated it just stays hot and that's why you need installation. If dad had put a layer of installation between the wall and the inside of the house and then added a false wall to cover it they would have saved a lot of money.
If it's from dampness you wish to protect from or mould from dampness there are 2 ways. Firstly, the cheaper way, is to use an oil base undercoat and then for the second coat use a mid sheen or vinyl silk emulsion. If that doesn't work, there are anti dampness or anti mould/fungus products such as owatrawl(not sure of the exact spelling, sorry). Again this would prime the walls, after all mould and dampness was scraped away first. Finish the walls with the normal paint later. I realise that some countries don't permit the use of oil based paints so straight to the latter for you guys. Maybe give the wall two coats of the owatrawl or equivalent which is actually used in a mix with normal emulsion. Remember to finish with the emulsion only. Preferably a mid sheen or silk/washable finish for rooms where condensation is typical.
Another name for a building block is a "brick." Bricks are commonly used in construction to build walls, pavements, and other structures due to their durability and strength.
Cinder blocks have holes to reduce their weight, making them easier to handle and transport. The holes also help in improving insulation and reducing the amount of concrete needed in the construction process. Additionally, the holes can be used for running electrical or plumbing lines within the walls.
yes! i install emt, grc, imc and PVC in block walls everyday.

To effectively seal cinder block walls and prevent moisture infiltration, you can use a waterproof sealant or paint specifically designed for masonry surfaces. Make sure to clean the walls thoroughly before applying the sealant and follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper application. Additionally, improving the durability of cinder block walls can be achieved by using a breathable waterproofing membrane or installing a drainage system to redirect water away from the walls.
You may not. It could mean the water proofing was not done correctly.
Yes you would have to use glue like liquid nails!
Some creative ideas for decorating or enhancing a basement with cinder block walls include painting the walls with bright colors, adding wall decals or murals, hanging artwork or tapestries, installing shelves or storage units, using fabric or curtains to cover the walls, and incorporating plants or greenery for a natural touch.
To safely hang heavy objects on cinder block walls, use anchors specifically designed for cinder blocks, such as sleeve anchors or toggle bolts. Make sure to drill pilot holes before inserting the anchors and use a level to ensure the object is hung securely. It is also recommended to distribute the weight evenly across multiple anchors for added stability.
The best methods for installing shelves on a cinder block wall are to use concrete anchors or screws specifically designed for masonry walls. Pre-drill holes in the cinder blocks, insert the anchors or screws, and then attach the shelves securely to the wall. Make sure to use a level to ensure the shelves are straight and properly aligned.
This mount will only fit onto flat walls as it needs to be attached to a stud, concrete or cinder block. Also, do to its flat shape it will not fit into a corner.
To effectively paint cinder block basement walls, start by cleaning the walls thoroughly and patching any cracks. Apply a masonry primer to help the paint adhere better. Use a high-quality masonry paint and apply it in thin, even coats. Consider using a paint sprayer for a more even finish. Allow the paint to dry completely between coats. This will not only improve the appearance of the space but also protect the walls from moisture and mold.
To effectively remove mold on cinder block walls, you can use a mixture of water and detergent to scrub the affected areas. Additionally, you can use a solution of bleach and water to kill the mold spores. Make sure to wear protective gear such as gloves and a mask while cleaning to avoid inhaling mold spores. After cleaning, ensure the area is well-ventilated to prevent mold from returning.
Some effective methods for insulating cinder block basement walls include using rigid foam insulation, applying a vapor barrier, sealing any cracks or gaps, and installing a drainage system to manage moisture. These methods can help improve energy efficiency and prevent moisture issues in the basement.
