An ecosystem is all living things in their non-living environment. Using less words, an ecosystemis like a food chain.Producers are organisms like plants, consumers (animals) eat the producers for food. Decomposers eat, take away, and/or breakdown the remains of dead animals and plants. Then releases some types of substances to be used by other members of our ecosystem. And the cycle, process, or chain starts all over again and again and again!

Ecosytems are self sufficient bio environments, meaning they are capable of sustaining themselves without any outside interferance. That is why ecosytems tend to be so fragile, because if humans interfer to much or pollute the surrounding environment the balance between the living creatures, plants and animals alike, will be thrown off and dramatic changes will take effect. Ecosystems depend on every organism to support eachother, the food chain places a very big role on how the environment works. If one species dies off the animals or plants that depend on it will either die off or start to feed on something new competing with other animals or plants throwing off the balance of the ecosystem.
