By passing an electrical current from one pin to the other. The greater the moisture content, the higher the resistance. By measuring the resistance, it gives an estimate of the average moisture content. I think.

2009/03/14 - Correct, but exactly backwards .... Moisture (water) can be a conductor. Dry wood is an insulator. The higher the moisture content, the lower the resistance and vice-versa. Wood with a high moisture content gives a low resistance to the tester and conducts the test voltage better.

Will an ATP meter give a positive reading when using sanitizers?

Yes, an ATP meter can give a positive reading when using sanitizers. Sanitizers may not completely remove organic material or residues that this type of meter detects, resulting in a positive ATP reading even after sanitation.

What instrument would give a reading of 53 percent?

humidity meter

What will give the most accurate pH reading?

A calibrated pH meter will give the most accurate pH reading. Regular calibration ensures that the pH meter is accurately measuring the pH level of a solution.

How do you calculate gas used per month in your household in cubic feet?

You will have a gas meter to give this reading. If it doesn't give cubic feet directly it should have a conversion factor on the meter. So you just read the meter on the right days.

How do you calculate dry metric tons for Iron Ore?

A Dry Metric Tonne is calculated by taking out the percentage of water/moisture content. If water content in the material is 2%, then the DMT is equal to the total weight less 2% or 100% - 2% = 98%, so DMT = 98% of MT

How do you read the meralco meter?

To read the Meralco Meter, take a reading from each of the five dials. The numbers on the dials represent the current reading. Take the digit each dial is pointing at during any particular moment in time, and the combined numbers from the five dials is the reading.

How do you determine the moisture value in fruits and vegetables?

The moisture content can be calculated by weighing the fruit and then placing it in a drying oven for a definite period of time then removing and weighing again. If you continue this until there is no more loss of weight. The initial weight minus the final weight is the weight of water. this difference multiplied by 100 and divided by the initial weight will give you the percent moisture content.

Can pH indicator give accurate pH reading for solution?

An accurate measurement is made with a pH-meter; pH-papers make only approximative determination.

How do dissolved oxygen meters work?

A dissolved oxygen meter measures the oxygen pressure in water. An anode is covered with water to halt the oxygen probe in the DO to give a reading.

What is k factor in energy meter?

The K Factor in Current Transformer Metering is the Multiplyer. The current transformers might be a winding ratio of 200/5 therefore the K Factor would be 40. Meaning for every 100Amps in the meterered conductors only 2.5A is read by the meter the resultant reading is then multiplied by 40 to give the reading of 100A (or the calculated kWh reading for electricity consumption)

Why Do Living Plants Give Off Moisture?

they give off moisture because tehy go through a method called transpiration.

Why will a cooled watermelon stay cooler on a hot day than other things of lower water content that have been cooled?

The water present in the watermelon will give the fruit moisture and will not allow the heat to react with it.
