A cyclone is a large-scale rotating low pressure system with a defined center of circulation. They can bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and various precipitation depending on the kind of cyclone.
A thunderstorm is any rainstorm that produces thunder and lighting. Thunderstorms are a smaller scale phenomenon than cyclones and generally do not rotate. When a thunderstorm does rotate, it is still a smaller-scale pattern than a cyclones, and is instead called a supercell. A rotating complex of thunderstorms may be considered a cyclone, however.
The words "cyclone" and "typhoon" are used interchangeably when referring to this weather phenomenon in the Philippines.
The most deadliest typhoon to hit Hong Kong was Typhoon Wanda in 1962. Typhoon Wanda had killed millions of people and destroyed many houses. It was very difficult to recover the damage of Typhoon Wanda.
A thunderstorm does not strike anything, it is "lightening" that does that.

In their infancy a typhoon begins as just a tropical thunderstorm. Moisture from the ocean is then pulled into the thunderstorm by its strong winds. Moisture is then converted into heat, which then forces the air to move into the middle of the storm which leads to evaporation. The heat that is created from all this then flows into the eye of the thunderstorm and a typhoon is created.
A 'Typhoon' is a weather system (much much bigger than a cloud), other names for one (in different oceans) are 'Cyclone' and 'Hurricane. You are probably thinking of a 'Tornado' which is formed out of one cloud called a super-cell or 'Cumulonimbus' cloud.
