Extreme weather can lead to strong wind causing dust storms which removes the top soils and therefore affect agriculture.

also the change in the pattern of rainfall will definatelly lead to either heavy rainfall within a short time washing away the top soil or distroying the crops which in most cases solidify and hold the soil together.

also the water retention capacity is affected when the plants are not allowd to grow as a result of overgrazing, extreme temperature and coupled with intense human action on the soil .....

What is the cause of cutting trees?

People cut trees for various reasons such as logging for timber, clearing land for agriculture or development, and for fuelwood. Deforestation can lead to loss of biodiversity, soil erosion, and contribute to climate change.

What does forest fires cause?

Forest fires can cause destruction of habitats for plants and animals, loss of biodiversity, soil erosion, air pollution from smoke, and contribute to climate change by releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Additionally, they can result in property damage, human displacement and health issues from smoke inhalation.

How can urban construction cause soil erosion?

Urban construction can cause soil erosion by removing vegetation that helps to prevent erosion, disrupting the natural flow of water through the landscape, and compacting the soil with heavy equipment. These activities can increase runoff and decrease the soil's ability to absorb and retain water, leading to erosion.

Does soil erosion cause landslides?

Water causes the soil to soften up and become slippery, causing landslides. In addition, excessive rainfall leads tobsuper-saturated soil, which cannot hold up against gravity. Gravity in one form or another is the main cause of landslides, and too much rainfall weakens the soil's sub-structure.

What is a process by which grassland areas become dessert?

Desertification is the process by which grassland areas turn into deserts due to a combination of factors such as climate change, deforestation, overgrazing, and soil erosion. This results in the loss of vegetation cover, leading to decreased soil fertility and increased susceptibility to erosion, ultimately transforming the area into a barren desert.

How does climate affect erosion?

Climate affects erosion by influencing the amount and intensity of rainfall, which can lead to increased runoff and soil erosion. Temperature fluctuations can also cause freeze-thaw cycles that contribute to the breakdown and movement of rocks and soil. Additionally, wind patterns in a particular climate can lead to wind erosion in arid regions.

How do rocks change in to soil?

erosion

What sre some things that cause erosion?

Some common causes of erosion include natural factors like water flow, wind, and glacial movement, as well as human activities such as deforestation, construction, and agriculture without proper soil conservation practices. Erosion can also be exacerbated by factors like climate change and improper land management.

What is the major cause of soil erosion?

humans

What is the largest cause of soil erosion?

Water erosion is the largest cause of soil erosion, which includes processes like rainfall, runoff, and rivers wearing away soil particles and carrying them to other locations.

Compared to the past rates of soil erosion are?

Compared to past rates, current rates of soil erosion are generally higher due to increased human activities such as deforestation, agriculture, and urbanization. Climate change is also contributing to accelerated soil erosion by intensifying rainfall and extreme weather events. Efforts to implement sustainable land management practices are crucial in mitigating further soil erosion.

Is soil erosion a chemical or physical change?

How does Overcropping Cause Soil Erosion?

Overcropping can cause soil erosion by depleting the soil of nutrients and reducing soil structure, making it more susceptible to erosion. Continuous removal of vegetation without allowing time for regrowth can leave the soil exposed to the elements, leading to erosion through wind or water. Additionally, the lack of plant cover can result in increased surface runoff, further accelerating soil erosion.
