Spokane is in the very eastern edge of Washington while Reno is in the western part of Nevada. Spokane is nearly directly north of Reno. However, Reno is about 2 degrees longitude west of Spokane.

Weather comes from the west, or off the water, sending storm and rain clouds over Seattle. However, the Cascade Mountains fall between Seattle and Spokane, creating a rain shadow that effects the eastern half of the state. Therefore, most of the precipitation seen in Seattle is stopped by the Cascades before it can reach Spokane, creating a much more dry and arid region then seen in Seattle.

Spokane is in the east central part of the state, only 20 miles fom the Idaho border. You can drive directly from Seattle to Spokane on the freeway, exiting at Exit 280 on I-90. There are many flights each day from Seattle to Spokane and a few from other West Coast cities and major hubs.
