The modern system of naming substances based on their compositions was developed by the Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius. Berzelius introduced the system of chemical symbols and atomic weights in the early 19th century, which laid the foundation for the modern system of chemical nomenclature.
The four long periods of history defined by Western societies are: Ancient history (c. 3000 BCE – 500 CE), Medieval history (c. 500 CE – 1500 CE), Early Modern history (c. 1500 CE – 1800 CE), and Modern history (c. 1800 CE – present). Each period is characterized by distinct social, cultural, political, and economic developments.

The beginning of the early modern is not completely clear. However. It is generally accepted that it began somewhere in the late 15th or early 16th century.
The first modern astronomer to view Mercury using a telescope was Galileo Galilei in the early 17th century. His observations of Mercury, along with other planets, helped to revolutionize our understanding of the solar system.

There are three schools of thought concerning this: One is that modern history is from 1950 onward. Another is that modern history is from 1899 onward The final one is that modern history doesn't exist as something that is modern cannot exist in the past. Modern history is the considered the time after the "middle ages", beginning around 1500. Modern history is comprised of two eras, early modern through about 1800 and late modern which is followed by contemporary history. Most of this terminology is in reference to European and American history and their relationship with other continents. Modern History is only part of history. Modern history is from 1850 onward in some ways.
