The kidneys, lungs, skin, liver, and large intestine are the five organs that perform most of the excretory system's functions. The kidneys filter waste from the blood to produce urine, the lungs remove carbon dioxide and excess water vapor, the skin eliminates waste through sweat, the liver processes and detoxifies substances, and the large intestine removes solid waste.
Your skin is apart of the excretory system because your skin contains sweat glands which is one of the ways to release a type of waste which is basically what the excretory system is all about.
Skin stem cells replace lost skin cells.
A group of tissues working together to perform a similar function is called an organ. Examples of organs found in the body are the skin, lungs, heart, kidneys and liver.
