it followed the leader
Lightning strikes from the sky when a channel of charged ions reaches down from the sky to connect with a channel of the opposite charge that is reaching up. This causes a flash of light called a step leader when electricity travels between the charges.
Lightning can strike upwards, from the ground to the sky, and it can also strike downwards, from one cloud to another, or from one part of a cloud to another part. (see: http://www.answers.com/topic/lightning)
Ionization of the air occurs to form lightning. During this process of ionization, plasma is formed and makes a path down to the earth's surface from the cloud in stages. This is what is referred to as the leader.
Lightning travels both up and down in the atmosphere. It starts with a downward leader from the cloud towards the ground, followed by an upward streamer from the ground to meet the downward leader, creating the visible lightning strike.
It is more likely for a person to be struck by lightning while standing below a tall tree because lightning seeks the highest point to strike, and tall trees are more likely to attract lightning due to their height. Additionally, tall trees have a higher chance of being struck because they are more likely to be hit by the downward leader from a lightning bolt.

There is no 'leader' or 'second leader' in One Direction.
Lightning typically travels from the sky to the ground. It is initiated by a downward-moving stepped leader from the cloud that is met by an upward-moving streamer from the ground, creating the visible lightning bolt.
Theres no leader in the band One Direction. :l
it followed the leader
sometimes it does but not allways _______________________________________________________________________ It actually starts from the cloud base when a stepped leader comes down from the cloud base and meets the return stroke from the ground, which is what makes the visible lightning that we see with our eyes. In the nice attempt to educate you, your science teacher was incorrect.
Louis isn't the leader. He is just the oldest in One Direction =D
During a thunderstorm, lightning travels from the ground to the sky through a channel of ionized air created by the buildup of electrical charge in the clouds. This channel, known as a stepped leader, extends downward from the cloud towards the ground. When it connects with a positively charged object on the ground, such as a tree or a building, a return stroke of lightning travels back up the channel to the cloud, completing the circuit.
A leader is responsible for direction and guidance.
