Japan was hit with an earthquake that measured 8.9 and was upgraded to 9.0. 30 minutes after the earthquake hit a tsunami hit Japan with waves measuring 30 feet tall in some places. Also a nuclear plant was damaged by the tsunami and Japan has had a nuclear crisis situation to deal with on top of everything else. Thousands of people have lost their lives and the number continues to grow.

Well, there was obviously the tsunami. Then you have the nuclear plant that was pretty much mauled, and just the fact of all the property destruction, the hundreds of people who lost their lives. It's really sad.
It seems that scientists and doctors are still working out how much people lost their lives in the Japan Tsnami and Earthquake in 2012, on websites people are saying more than 500,000 but there isnt an exact number yet.

The Japanese earthquake was reported by CNN to have been an 8.9 magnitude earthquake which caused the devastating tsunami. As of March 14, there as been a reported number of 1,900 lives lost and thousands still missing.
