1st of all, people were not thinking when they wanted to stay in New Orleans when they knew the hurricane was coming. i think that they didn't have enough notice, or they didn't have cars to leave the city, or they had nowhere to go, or they had a tradition of staying in the same house for a certain amount of years. i wish that the people of new Orleans had a safe place to go so nobody would have to die. =(

Hurricane Katrina made landfall on Monday, August 29, 2005. It started off as a tropical depression then became a hurricane, then died down to another tropical depression. In the month of August, 2005, a Hurricane called 'Hurricane Katrina' approached the city of New Orleans. It was one of the worst disasters in American History.
Hurricane Katrina was the most expensive hurricane in terms of destruction, and it was certainly among the worst natural disasters to hit the USA since 1900. About 1800 residents of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast died, either directly or indirectly as a result of Katrina. However, Katrina was not the worst in terms of number of deaths. The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 killed an estimated 6,000 to 12,000 people, while the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, killed around 2,500.
