Possibly the Royal couple of France in l792-93 during the Revolution. The Hope Diamond did NOT figure in either the Russian Revolution ( if it was in the possesion of the Romanovs, wouldn"t Stacy know all about it?)- nor did it figure in any shape of form in the Titanic disaster! ( it is a known fact that the disaster did happen on April l5, and Diamonds are the birthstone for April- this was only codified in the summer of l9l2 by a conference of jewelers in the US. It is not inconceivable that the linkage beween Ice 9 Iceberg in the Titanic case) and Diamonds was not implied- maybe there is some folk-etymology here, but the Hope Diamond had nothing to do with the Titanic sinking!

Cullinan diamond and the hope diamond are famous gems?

The two names you have mentioned here are the historical gemstones which are the tributes to both human achievements and curse. The Cullian diamond, which is also known as "The Great Star of Africa", is the largest rough diamond found in South Africa. Is hope diamond bad luck?

Technically, the diamond isn't bad luck, it is widely believed and rumored to be bad luck. The reason of this is because many people have died from the "Hope Diamond"/"Blue France" for unknown causes, all of which owning the diamond. Due to this, a superstition was believed that the diamond is bad luck, and you will die eventually if you had owned the diamond. HOWEVER, if you read the "About" entry about the bad luck, you'd learn that the person who obtained it after buying in Russia, was not killed. Many famous people have died because of this supposed curse, and it is now located in the Smithsonian Museum. It could be bad luck, but chances are it is just a minor historic coincidental.
