They won't.
The scope of a study on earthquakes could include examining earthquake causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies. Limitations may involve constraints in data availability, resource limitations for field research, and the inability to predict exact timing and location of earthquakes.
Yes, earthquakes can happen in deserts. Earthquakes are caused by geological processes within the Earth's crust, so they can occur in any location, including deserts. The level of seismic activity in a desert area may vary, but earthquakes can still occur.
Events that may precede earthquakes include foreshocks, ground deformation, changes in groundwater levels, unusual animal behavior, and unusual weather patterns. However, predicting earthquakes with certainty remains a significant challenge for scientists.
Smells during an earthquakes may be from released gases previously trapped under the ground, gas lines that have cracked, or from the resulting fires.

May be computer controlled and not adjustable
The ignition timing is probably controlled by the computer, and cannot be manually set. Check to see if it has a distributor, if it does it may be adjustable, if not, it is not adjustable.
Try buying a manual from Haynes www.haynes.co.uk Your car may well not have adjustable timing.. It could be controlled by an engine management system, in the case of ignition timing. Valve timing is controlled by the timing chain and not adjustable. Failing that, I have adjusted (old style) timing myself by ear. It seems more accurate than a cheap timing light in most cases! Good Luck, Mick
May be controlled by computer and non-adjustable
Take it to the repair shop. Newer cars may or may not be able to be "timed" with the old traditional timing lights as many are computer controlled.
The timing curve is controlled by the PCM (powertrain control module) and can be changed by having a custom tuning shop recalibrate the cars PCM...if you suspect the car is out of time you can have it check by a repair shop with a scan tool...if it is out of time it may need a new timing set or timing chain.
Someday it may.
If the timing is controlled by Belt Drive and not Gear Driven, then I think you may need to Urgently have a New Belt fitted, before you do Severe Damage to the Upper part of the Engine. Regards, Peter.

Earthquakes in the ocean may cause tsunamis.
