Santa Maria, a significant volcanic eruption in the Guatemalan Highlands in 1902, did not "destroy" cities in the conventional sense but caused extensive damage to the surrounding areas. The eruption led to the destruction of several towns, including the town of San Felipe, and resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and widespread devastation. The ashfall and pyroclastic flows impacted the region significantly, leading to long-term changes in the landscape and local communities.
The 1902 eruption of Santa Maria was a natural disaster and did not have a financial cost associated with it. However, the eruption did cause significant destruction and loss of life in the surrounding areas.
The maria (singular mare) appear relatively flat when viewed through earth-based telescopes. They are actually pitted with smaller craters and the surface of the maria are very uneven, very much like the rolling hills we see here on earth. They are far from flat.

Caravels, I should imagine. I know the Nina and the Pinta (sp?) were both caravels, but the Santa Maria was a larger class of ship. Caravels were great for exploration, as they had a shallow draft, allowing them to sail in much shallower water(could even sail up some deep rivers) and as such, I should imagine that they would be what any explorer would use.The flagship Santa Maria had the nickname La Gallega. It was a nao, which simply means "ship" in old Spanish; today, we might call such a ship a carrack. She was fat and slow, designed for hauling cargo, not for exploration. Some sources say that the Santa Maria was about 100 tons. I saw the copy of the ship that used to be moored at the Barcelona harbour, and it is pretty scary to think that she was the biggest of the three ships that sailed to the unknown in 1492.Read more: What_type_of_ships_did_christopher_Columbus_use...
not much if it is small but they could easily destroy entire cities and the largest ones and decimate a continent
