hardly. for everyone its different, but i did my lip my self twice in the same spot , and even over scar tissue it wasnt that bad,, i would say to have a friend do it for you though because the last layer of skin is always the hardest to get through. and ofcourse use ACTUAL piercing needles and make sure everything , including the area your piercing. numbing always helps:)
