Find the population of Sydney and assume each person uses 10 units per day. Multiply it out and add about 100% for industrial use. That should give a reasonable estimate.

The capacity of a power supply to an area is usually reckoned as about 1 kW per person. With a population of 4 million about 4 Gigawatts of power are needed for the Sydney area, although it could be a lot more in places which use a lot of air conditioning.
