Why do planes take off and land in the wind?

Planes take off and land into the wind because it helps provide extra lift for the wings. A headwind increases the speed of the air flowing over the wings, which creates more lift and allows the plane to take off or land at a lower speed. This is a safety measure to ensure better control and stability during these critical phases of flight.

What happens if a hurricane occurs before or during your trip do they still close the parks?

I have worked through many tropical storms and Hurricanes. If the threat shows the track going over the theme parks then they will close for safety reasons. If you are staying at their resorts they will compensate your stay some what but not much. They will try and keep amenities for food open but that's all. It usually has lasted only a night but on occasion it was 2 days. Then the parks are yours and the lines are usually a walk on, everywhere. I love going after a storm because of that. Rain is the biggest hurdle so take a poncho. The airports are worse because they will close long before we do at the parks and wont open as quickly. The restaurants and hotels usually have short term closures as well. When the storm is here everything is closed by about 6 hours before it hits land and then another 6 after it leaves. So a 24 hour period of nothing going on is the worse, but you do get bragging rights to surviving a hurricane!

Who owns Mount Snowdon?

Land in National Parks in Britain is owned by private individuals, businesses, companies, and state organisations such as the Forestry Commission, just the same as land outside the National Parks. National Park status makes no difference to land ownership, it simply imposes limitations on what land development can take place, and gives certain public-access rights.

Oslo is a city, so none. But Oslo is the capital in the world closest to nature (you can take the metro to the Forrest or visit the Oslo fjord islands with boat), and within a few hours travel by car/bus/train there are several great national parks (Dovre, Jotunheimen and many more) where the nature is much more breathtaking.

How many parks are there in California?

AnswerThere are 388 national parks in the United States of America. For a complete list, go to: http://nps.seeamerica.org/That may be correct (it is close - the latest # is 391) if you include all National Park Service properties - but you need to differentiate between National Parks (of which there are 58), National Monuments, National Historic Sites, etc. And, of course, National Forests under the care of the Dept of the Interior.Actually, it is a common misconception that there are almost 400 National Parks in the United States. There are just under sixty (60) National PARKS. This 388 number includes National monuments and other historic sites. Parks would be, e.g., Yellowstone National Park. Muir Woods in California or The Statue of Liberty are NOT Parks, they are monuments and other sites that are park of the national parks system.

Does the state or national government have the right to take land to make parks?

My personal opinion is no, but this is very debatable. I think no because the preservation of the land isn't up to the government, it's up to the people. The government is there to protect the people and make their lives better, not control it. They should have special concervancies to decide that. (Not government run ones, either).
