We controlled fire 125,000 years ago for sure and possibly 400,000 years ago (of course that was Homo Erectus). There are claims for "definitive evidence" of fire control as much as 1.7 million years ago. Of course fire itself is at least as old as the Earth, but I assume you mean how long has Man had fire.
