The most obvious change is that both nations' defeat and occupation by the Allies changed them from dictatorships to democracies. However, a more detailed answer is (at least IMHO) a question for a history book and would be far out of scope for a website such as this. There are hundreds of good histories of WW2 out there - check with the reference librarian at your local library for some suggestions.
World War 2 began in Europe on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. This led to Britain and France declaring war on Germany. The war then spread to other regions, including Asia and the Pacific.

World War 2 was a global conflict because it involved many countries from different regions around the world. The war was sparked by aggressive actions of expansionist powers like Germany, Italy, and Japan, which led to conflicts that spread to involve major powers like the United States, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, and others. The war had far-reaching consequences beyond Europe, impacting countries in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific.
WWII was fought all over the world which is how it gained it's name including North Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, The Pacific and several other countries. The highest point of fighting was done in Europe. {ADDITION}: The correct term for this is WWII. And this took place ALL over the world. The war leaders are Germany [Adolf Hitler], Italy [Benito Mussolini], and Japan [Haidiki Tojo].
General Douglas MacArthur is credited for helping Japan rebuild after World War 2. As Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, he oversaw the reconstruction efforts, implemented political and economic reforms, and facilitated Japan's transition to a democratic nation. He played a key role in shaping Japan's recovery and transformation into a peaceful and prosperous country.
The United States proper was not damaged or seriously affected by the First or Second World Wars. America helped to rebuild Europe, Japan & the Philippines after the Second World War.
