First step would be relative-dating: examining the new unit in the context of known rocks above and below it. Then look for correlative formations & fossils elsewhere.
Scientists first need to determine the age of the fossils through radiometric dating or other methods. They also need to identify the species to understand its evolutionary relationships. Additionally, studying the geological context in which the fossils were found can provide valuable information for placing them in the ancestral timeline of dogs.
Fossils reveal what organisms lived before us.

Meekoceras fossils are considered the youngest because they belong to the Late Cretaceous period, specifically the Maastrichtian stage, which is the final stage of the Cretaceous before the mass extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs. These fossils provide insights into the evolutionary processes occurring just before this significant transition in Earth's history. Their relatively recent age, compared to other ammonite fossils, makes them valuable for understanding the ecological dynamics of the late Mesozoic era.
You can find rocks, gems, fossils, and minerals in various locations in Alberta such as the Rocky Mountains, Badlands, and along riverbeds. Popular locations include Dinosaur Provincial Park, Canmore, and Jasper National Park. Make sure to obtain any necessary permits or permissions before collecting.

Antarctica does have dinosaur fossils! Dinos used to live there before the climate changed.
Fossils are nothing to do with weathering they are formed during the deposition of sediments before they become rocks.

Fossils are here today because way before humans were living on land there were dinosaurs first and some people still see the fossils today from when the dinosaurs used to be here but now dinosaurs are enstinct .

Some suggest that Triceratops fossils are actually the fossils of young Torosaurus. However, Triceratops were extremely common and existed before Torosaurus did. If Torosaurus were adult Triceratops, their should be fossils of Torosaurus that were as old as the oldest fossils of Triceratops. Thus, I don't think that Torosaurus was the same as Triceratops.

Radioactivity dating can be used to estimate the age of rocks, fossils, and artifacts that contain radioactive elements. The technique relies on measuring the amount of radioactive isotopes and their decay products in a sample to determine its age. This method is particularly useful for dating objects that are thousands to billions of years old.
