First you need a step down transformer. A step down transformer has less turns of copper in secondary then in primary. You can calculate with this formula
# of primary turns/Voltage of Primary= # of secondary turns/Voltage of secondary
When you know 3 factors, you can easily find out the forth one by easy mathematical calculation
From a step down transformer the 12 V AC output, needs to be converted into 12 V DC by a simple reverse bias or diode
A diode does a HALF-WAY RECTIFICATION
which means it allows one way of current, cut downs the reverse that is AC Current in which change of polarity takes place
or
a diode rectifies AC to DC or unidirectional current

How does a 12v to 115v converter work?

A 12v to 115v converter, like an inverter, works by converting direct current (DC) from a 12v source (such as a car battery) to alternating current (AC) at 115v. This is typically achieved through electronic circuitry that switches the DC input to create an AC output, allowing you to power AC devices (such as laptops or small appliances) from a DC power source.

Can you use a 50 amp automotive relay with a 12V dc coil to control 12V ac 500 watt halogen lighting?

There are two ways to interpret this question. 1. No you can not use a 12 VDC coil on a 12 VAC source. 2. Check the voltage rating on the automotive relay. If it is approved for AC use then the relay will handle the 42 amps that the halogen lighting will draw. If the relay is not rated for AC use don't use it as the contact surfaces are not rated to handle the current.

Can we use fluorescent lamp in dc?

Yes, fluorescent lamps may be powered by DC but they need a DC lamp controller instead of an AC ballast and starter. The DC lamp controller is more complex. I have a 12V lantern with fluorescent lamp tubes.

Can a 12V ac bulb be used with 12V dc adapter or 12v DC supply?

Answer 1: No. Answer 2: This depends. The chances are that an AC adaptor can be substituted by a DC adaptor. It depends on what item it is powering. Not many items run directly on AC power. Most items that is shipped with an AC adaptor has got its own internal rectifier in order to make DC from AC. If you know enough about electricity and electronics to open up and check the item you need to power up, then check if it contain an internal rectifier. If it does, then it should be no problem. Some times however, the diodes used for rectifying the voltage are tightly dimensioned. 4 diodes is needed to rectify the power. 4 diodes of 500ma give you a usable current of about 1 Ampere if run with an AC power-source. If using a DC power-source however, the usable current is halved because only 2 of the 4 diodes will be used. Some items that use an AC adaptor is some clock-radios or answer-machines with time-telling. For these items it is likely that they will run fine on an DC adaptor except for the clock. In Europe, the AC is 50 Hz. In US, this frequency's is 60 Hz. This frequency is highly accurate and can be used to measure time for a clock. If using DC, then the clock will not function, but the rest should. Another issue is voltage... 12 v AC... when rectified and not stabilized, it will make about 16.8 volt. When powering some item, the voltage will drop, but always stay above 12 volt. Probably more like 14 volt. This depending on current drawn. If using a 12 v DC power-source, this will after diodes only give about 11.3 volt. It may still be enough for most appliances though. If not sure about what I am writing about, then you should find a perfect match AC adaptor to your "thing" and not even test a DC adaptor on it. IF the question was reverted. "Can I substitute a DC adaptor with an AC adaptor" then in 99.9% of cases this is a big NO. If putting AC where you should put DC, this will most likely lead to destruction of your item. You will "shortcut" capacitors and transistors. It may also cause fire.

Can a 12v dc 500mA adapter be substituted for a 12v dc 200mA ac adapter?

No.If it is AC output, it will blow out the power circuits of the DC device. If it is DC output, it doesn't have enough current capacity for the load of the DC device. If you want to power a DC device with a wall wart, make sure the wart is:DC outputCorrect polarity (some have reversible polarity)Exact same voltage as the deviceGreater than or equal to current rating of the device

How do you convert 24volts to 12 volts?

If you want to convert 24v AC into 12v Ac, it's simple. Just get a transformer to convert 24 volts into 12 volts. This is called a stepdown transformer. If you want to convert 24v DC into 12v DC, it's more complicated. First you have to change the 24v DC into 24v AC by a switching converter that changes DC into AC. Then you would use a stepdown transformer as in the former example. Once the 24v AC is converted to 12v AC, then you use a rectifier bridge to change the 12v AC into 12v DC.
