In Scorpius.
Antares has a spectral class of M1LB.
In the southern hemisphere during summer, notable constellations include Orion, which is prominent due to its bright stars, and the Southern Cross (Crux), a distinctive feature of the southern sky. Other visible constellations include Scorpius, with its bright star Antares, and Centaurus, which contains Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to Earth. Additionally, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, irregular dwarf galaxies, can also be observed. These constellations are best viewed from December to February, the summer months in the southern hemisphere.
(Alpha Scorpii) Antares (meaning "Rival of Mars") is the brightest star in Scorpius, one of the constellations in the zodiac. Antares is a M1.5Iab variable red supergiant star that is about 520 light-years from Earth and is about 230 times as big as the Sun. This incredibly massive, old, low-temperature (3500 K) star is the 15th brightest star in the sky; it has a visual (apparent) magnitude of +0.96 (var.) and an absolute magnitude of -5.2.
In the northern hemisphere the constellations on the meridian on June 21 have a right ascension of 18 hours, and constellations from 15 to 18 hours can be seen in summer evenings. They are not as bright as the winter constellations. The main ones are Boötes (main star Arcturus), Corona Borealis, Serpens Caput, Libra, Hercules and Ophiuchus. In the southern sky, Scorpio (main star Antares). In the summer the circumpolar constellations like Cassiopeia, Ursa Major, Perseus and Draco can be seen although not in their usual winter positions.
Antares (Alpha Scorpii) is a huge red hypergiant star, with a radius 800 times that of our own sun. There are some bigger stars though, such as Betelgeuse (1180 solar radii) and V354 Cephei (1520 solar radii), but the biggest known star is VY Canis Majoris, which is estimated to have a diameter between 1800 and 2100 times that of our own sun. If it were in the centre of our solar system its edges would almost reach the orbit of Saturn.
Betelgeuse and Antares are both prominent red supergiant stars, but Betelgeuse is generally brighter than Antares. Betelgeuse has an apparent magnitude of about 0.42, while Antares has an apparent magnitude of around 1.0. This means that Betelgeuse appears brighter in the night sky compared to Antares. However, both stars are among the brightest in their respective constellations.
Scorpio constellation is between Libra and Sagittarius constellations, opposite to Taurus constellation. It is currently (era 2000) found, in its greater portion (~ 5/6), within the sign of Sagittarius. Antares (αSco), is currently found in the 10th degree of the sign of Sagittarius.
There is lots of information available about the star named Antares. It can be found in libraries, or online. Antares is one of the largest stars that man has ever discovered.
