Yes
I'm not too sure what other people think. I know that the Sun shines brighter than Sirius.
Venus has an apparent magnitude [See related link] of -3.82 when it is opposite from the Sun, whereas Sirius has an apparent magnitude of -1.47. So Venus is always brighter (When seen) than Sirius.
Sirius has a lower absolute magnitude than Rigel. Sirius is one of the brightest stars in the sky with an absolute magnitude of 1.42, while Rigel has an absolute magnitude of -8.1, making it much brighter than Sirius.
Venus is occasionally brighter than jupiter
Venus, at its brightest, is brighter than any other planet. However, when it's not at its brightest, there are a couple of others than can be brighter if they're near their brightest, Mars and Jupiter being the most notable.
Observed from Earth there are no brighter stars at the night sky. If you see something that is brighter, it will be a planet.
No. There is no such thing as an "earth-like star" as Earth is a planet, not a star. Sirius A is a star that is larger and brighter than the sun.
The sun appears brighter than Sirius does because it is about half a million times closer to us.
No. As seen from Earth the "evening star," which is actually the planet Venus, is the second brightest object in the night sky. Only the moon is brighter.
Sirius appears brighter than Pollux because it is closer to Earth and is a more luminous star. Sirius is also a hot, blue star compared to Pollux, which is a cooler, orange giant star, further contributing to the difference in brightness.
It is closer to us.

Because it actuall IS brighter.
Yes it is much bigger.Probably 5 suns can fit in sirius. Not only is sirius bigger but it is much hotter as well.
Because Sirius is closer to the earth that's why it is bigger
The Brightest star in the sky is the SUN However, in the night sky, the brightests star is 'Sirius' , the Dog Star. It has with it , a small binary star, known as the 'Pup'. Other objects in the night sky are brighter, viz. the Moon, and some planets, but they are NOT stars.
