Is a hydra a carnivore or a herbivore or omnivore?

The hydra in most myths was a carnivore, so I believe, it is most likely it is one, but then again it may be an omnivore because people only reported when humans got eaten but not if they ate plants. There is also a belief that they only attacked people because they were frightened and had to use self defense.

I'm guessing that the hydra is a either a carnivore or omnivore at best.
