The word alive means the cell must perform the basics functions of life, which a sperm does not.

But a sperm can move up to the ovum and can combine with it to form a cell, which is literally alive.

Contradictory to that, sperms die in hostile conditions such as acidity. Acids kill the sperms. Sperms require humid conditions to live, which is found in the vagina.

Can sperm fertilize an egg without intercourse by other means?

Yes, there can be artificial insemination in which the sperm is injected into the female. There is also in vitro, (which means literally in glass) the egg is fertilized by the sperm outside of the body and them the resulting fertilized eggs are implanted into the female.

Why do I get a tingling sensation on your tongue after swallowing my boyfriends ejaculatory fluids or sperm fountain?

The most likely reason for this is that sperm cells are still in your mouth. They are still alive and moving so this is probably the reason.

How does sperm move through the female reproductive system?

after intercourse, millions of the sperms get deposited in the vagina...with the peristaltic movement of the sperms and the cilia present they move through the cervix..only thousands of sperms will be alive and reaches the uterus and only one sperm penetrates the ovum

What is the Difference between a Sperm Cell and a Bacterium?

Sperm Cells are gametes or sex cells. They only have 23 chromosomes in humans & are 1 of 2 gametes that when joined form a zygote, a fertilized oocyte. They are used to reproduce. Sperm are not alive & only become living when 1 fertilizes an egg. Bacteria are living organisms that reproduce through binary fission, a form of asexual reproduction. Bacteria can live for weeks in contrast Sperm become useless with in a few minutes. The primary function of Bacteria is to reproduce, while the primary function of Sperm is to fertilize an ovum, & carry out the task of reproducing for the organism from which it originated.
