Celsius is a measurement of temperature. Celsius takes the freezing point of water and the boiling point of water, and divides the temperature difference into 100 equal degrees, calling freezing zero, and boiling one hundred. The same sized degrees are used to extend the scale below zero and above one hundred.

The SI unit of temperature is the kelvin. the kelvin scale starts at absolute zero, and the units are the same size as degrees celsius, so the freezing point of water is 273.16K. Measurements in kelvin are not called degrees.
