No the moon is a piece of the earth that broke off when another planet collided with earth and stayed in orbit with the planet. The moons light is a reflection of the suns light. Stars are gigantic balls of gas that are burning up million, billion light years awhile.

The Sun is a star. A moon is a (moon) also known as a: satellite.

Do nearby stars have larger angles than distant stars have?

Yes, nearby stars generally have larger parallax angles than distant stars. Parallax is the apparent shift in the position of a star when observed from different points in Earth's orbit around the Sun. The closer a star is to Earth, the greater the angle of this shift, making it easier to measure compared to more distant stars, which exhibit much smaller angles due to their greater distances.

Is the moon a constellation?

No. A constellation is an arrangement of stars. The moon is a natural satellite of Earth.

What does it means when the moon is next of a star?

It doesn't mean anything. There are always stars next to the Moon. Actually the stars are much farther away, but the stars that happen to be in the same direction seem to be next to the Moon.It doesn't mean anything. There are always stars next to the Moon. Why are stars near the moon?

You will find stars in every direction - both near the Moon, and in other directions. They are not really "near" the Moon; they just happen to be in the same direction.

Do you see stars twinkle if you live on the moon?

No. Stars twinkle on Earth because the light beams have to enter the atmosphere, altering the brightness of the star by the second. Since the moon really doesn't have a atmosphere, stars seen from there wouldn't twinkle.

Is the moon brighter than the stars?

no stars are very bright and the mooon has no light of its own it reflects the light of the sun which is a star -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the person above (thank you) explained already, stars give off light itself. For example, the Sun has nuclear fusion that creates light. The moon, however, only reflects light from the Sun and cannot produce light on its own. Therefore stars are definitely brighter than the moon. But when you look up in the night, the moon would seem brighter. However, when you think of the distance-moon is close, stars are really, really, really, rea~lly far away-then you can see that stars are brighter than the moon. Thank you :) -Joanna

Why are the stars not as light as the moon?

Does the atmosphere make the moon appear larger at low angles?

No. It's really an "optical illusion". See Link for full explanation

Why is there sometimes just a moon no stars?

Different constellations, groupings of stars, are visible during different points in the earth's elliptical cycle. So, on some nights, the angles between the stars and earth do not allow for a good view of certain constellations. Another factor in visibility of cosmic structures is the fact that the moon is considerably larger and closer than many stars. Light pollution also accounts for obscuring the view of many stars and constellations.

Is the moon higher than the stars?

No, the moon is closer to Earth than the stars. The stars we see in the night sky are typically much farther away than the moon.
